Australiana Pioneer Village

I know this is not directly related to our time period but though it would be of general interest to reenactors and history lovers, especially those based in Sydney.
After a long a drawn out (10year!) battle with the local council the Friends of the Pioneer Village Society has been awarded the lease for the Australiana Pioneer Village in Wiberforce as well as $100,000 in order reopen the site.

I think this is significant, even to us as reenactors of an earlier period, because of the chances that is gives to the general public to be exposed to history and to historical reenactments (both as a built landscape and as ‘character’ portrayals). It feels to me as if the value of history has been raised in the public consciousness through the efforts of these people and that can only be a good thing in my humble opinion.
I have slightly fuzzy memories of visiting the village as a child and look forward to taking my own daughter. The Society have hopes for a partial reopening in about 3 months and fully operational in 6.
Sponsorship Opportunities exist for individuals or businesses who would like to help out. Article about the council decision here.
